How to run SARA tool to resolve O365 issues?

If you are having problems with Office 365 or Outlook, download the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant.


The SARA Tool will run tests on your computer to figure out the problem. It can fix many of the issues for you or tell you how to fix them yourself. You should run this tool at the first sign of an issue to see if it is a problem on your computer, with the Microsoft products and services, or with Microsoft servers.


This tool will scan Office, Outlook, Dynamic 365 (the online version of Office), OneDrive, Skype for Business, and give you a clearer picture of what needs to be done to resolve your issue.


The following operating systems are supported:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
  • Windows 7

Outlook in any of the following Office versions can be scanned:

  • Microsoft Office 365 (2019, 2016, or 2013, 32-bit or 64-bit)

  • Microsoft Office 2019 (32-bit or 64-bit; Click-to-Run or MSI installations)

  • Microsoft Office 2016 (32-bit or 64-bit; Click-to-Run or MSI installations)

  • Microsoft Office 2013 (32-bit or 64-bit; Click-to-Run or MSI installations)

  • Microsoft Office 2010 (32-bit or 64-bit)

If you are running any edition of Windows 7, you must also have .NET Framework 4.5 installed. Windows 8 and later versions of Windows include at least .NET Framework 4.5.


These are some steps that you have to follow to run SARA tool.


Step 1: Go to browser and type download sara tool for office 365 and go to its official website.



Step 2: Open this link and expand SARA tool downloading option and click on Download.



Step 3: After downloading the Setup, click on Run to install this setup on your machine. This will download the full setup to run on your machine. You have to click on Install as shown below.




 After downloading the complete setup it will redirect to SARA agreement. Here, if you agree with the Microsoft Agreement, click on I agree to proceed ahead.


Step 4: Here, a list of Office 365 applications will be shown. You have to choose an application from the list in which you are facing the issue. In this, article we are selecting Outlook. Click on Next.




Step 5: Here, a list of problems will be shown. Choose any of them which you are facing. (It depends on applications selected earlier). We are selecting Outlook keeps asking for my password. And click on Next.




Step 6: It will ask for your machine whether this affected machine or not. It's better if you run this tool on the affected machine. 


Step 7: Enter the affected user ID and password and check on Keep me signed in and then click on Next button. After clicking on the Next button it will take some time to verify your details.


Step 8: After validating your details it will show about the issue. In my test account, it shows there is no license is activated for this account.
