How to Configure Outlook Manually (POP)?

This article will help you in Outlook configuration manually because many times we have noticed that we are not able to configure Outlook Automatically even after entering all the details correctly.


These are the steps which you have to follow to configure Outlook manually:


Step 1: Go to Windows Search bar.


Step 2: Search for Control Panel.


Step 3: Click on Mail ( it depends on Windows version).




Step 4: Click on Show Profile (if you want to create a new profile). 


Step 5: Click on Add and give a profile name as you wish and then click on OK. 


Step 6: Click on Manual setup or additional server types and click on Next. 




Step 7: Here, click on POP or IMAP and click on Next button.




Filled here all the details:

Your Name: Enter a name here who will be using this account.

Email Address: Enter an email address of the user.

Account Type: Choose POP from the drop-down menu.

Incoming mail server: Enter your incoming mail server such as outlook.office365.com for Microsoft mail server.

Outgoing mail server: Enter your outgoing mail server such as smtp.ofice365.com for Microsoft mail server.

User Name: Enter your email address again here.

Password: Enter your password whatever you have set up for that account.


After filling all the details click on More Settings (as shown above). 


Step 8: Click on Outgoing server and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. (Here, there are two buttons. select Use same settings as my incoming mail server). 


Step 9: Click on Advanced. 

Here, Incoming mail server (POP3) should be 995 and check this server requires an encrypted connection. (This port is for Microsoft mail server).

And Outgoing server (SMTP) should be 587 and select TTL from the drop-down menu of Use the following type of encrypted connection. (This port is for Microsoft mail server).



Step 10: Click on OK and then click on Next. 


After clicking on Next, it will verify the server details that you have entered earlier and might ask for the password again.

Finally, click on Finish button after successful verification.
