Being updated is a trend that ensures to have the best in class productivity and security measures against threats. But as technology evolves older hardware are rendered incapable to update to the recent updates which makes it vulnerable. Microsoft recently released its Office 2016 September 2018 update, which has brought various updates to its productivity suite making it more intelligent. Since these updates requires the latest updated systems to run on, some users having previous Mac OS versions would not be able to update to these recent updates. Microsoft Office 2016 which comes as part of the Office 365 productivity suite with the September 2018 update will only be available for Mac OS versions 10.12.0 and later. This would be a big problem that would be faced by some of the Mac users. As a work around for the same, users can either update to the August 2018 update or can keep working with the already installed latest versions on their Mac.
The August 2018 update is supported by systems having Mac OS versions 10.10.0 and later which would help various Mac users to update and keep working with Office. Although users have to always keep in mind that these previous versions might have bugs and security vulnerabilities.
